Focus on Youth 2022

Applications Opening Soon!

The Focus on Youth platform is an integral part of the Congress, and is an opportunity for talented young harpists under the age of 22* to play in front of a panel of highly respected harpists who will give them feedback on their performance.  Applications for those wishing to participate in the 2022 Congress will be opening soon.  Read below to find out more about what to prepare.

Deadline for acceptance of invitation 

Applicants are requested to submit a recent video recording of 20-25 minutes of contrasting solo harp music, to include a work composed after 1960, together with two letters of recommendation from their teacher and their school, a photo and a short biography. All music on the recording should be performed from memory and the same repertoire must be played at the Congress in 2022.

 

A panel will listen to the videos and up to 30 harpists will be selected to perform during the Congress in Cardiff. Another three will be given a reserve place.

All performers will be required to have a ticket to the World Harp Congress (Click here to buy now) and have a valid Student Membership of the WHC (click here to join). 

 

Financial help is available through the generosity of the Otake Foundation. Details will be made available to the successful applicants.
