The World Harp Congress is held every three years in cities across the world, and perhaps surprisingly, this is its first ever visit to the UK. In 2017, the 13th World Harp Congress was held in Hong Kong, the 12th in Sydney in 2014, the 11th in Vancouver in 2011, and prior to that in Amsterdam, Dublin, Seattle-Tacoma, Jerusalem, amongst other cities around the world following its initial hosting in Maastricht in 1983. The team from Wales, the “Land of the Harp”, who proposed Cardiff as the 2020 host city, was delighted to win the bid, and is committed to delivering a spectacular and memorable 14th Congress now in 2022.
With over 200 Congress performances, including the Gala Concert at St David’s Hall, delegate receptions, a Massed Harp performance, an Open-air harp ‘festival’ at St Fagan’s National Museum of History, and outreach activities that will take place across the City, there are numerous options and opportunities to sponsor and promote.
